The new USSSA version of
the PST is great!! Its got a nice lightly endloaded feel, and a new longer barrell... It's
very similar to the original PST137 Black/Gold or Red/Black. The sweet spot is very good
for a PST and I would say it is equal in size to the older long shell bats. This bat swings
true to its weight and of course that nice endload really drives through the ball well. The
overall distance is just a touch behind the top composite bats like the Freak or Combat,
but not by much. However the incredible durability more then make's up for its slight disadvantage
in performance.
For me the balls were getting through the infield scary fast, about the same speed as the Freak
or Synergy. However when the ball was changed from a .44 525 to a .40 375 or .44 375 the distance
was a bit less then what I had anticipated. But thats simply because the mush balls werent compressing
the walls the way they do on a more flexible composite. Now on a side note, when the temperature
dropped and the ball's got harder, this bat was SICK! The ball just flew!!! The key to this bat
is high compression balls or a touch colder weather... So if you play league at night, or use
a decent .44 cor ball then this is the bat for you!!!
