My Own Personal Review of the Miken Maniac 484
The new maniac has a good feel, and a decent sized sweet spot. (very similar to the freak98 or maniac 282). The performance is below average until the bat breaks in, but once broken in it is a very good bat... Being legal in all associations, and a durable composite, I would say that the Maniac should be in the top 10 bats for the 2006 season. Is it a top 3, I dont think so... Is it a bottom of the barrel piece of junk, absolutely not. The only problem that I heard about with the maniac was of a few bats breaking at the handle when they were first released. Ive put quite a few swings on the 484 of mine with out any trouble, so I believe Miken as fixed this little problem. One thing I did notice is that the 28oz Maniac swung very heavy to me, and I had to go down to a 27oz to get any kind of bat speed. (I hand weighed my 28oz, and it came in at over 29oz) So if your going to get a new 484, consider going down an ounce from what you are currently swinging.
