My Own Personal Review of the 2008 Jeff Hall Mutant 98 34" 27.5oz
What was my initial response to the mutant??? Not good... My first round of BP was absolutely horrible... I dont even know if I hit more then 1 or 2 HR's with this bat. I was so disappointed that I didn't swing it again for almost a week... After my initial cool down period I took the JHMutant ASA back out to the fields for another round of BP... This round was so much different, I was wondering if someone had switched out my bats when I wasn't looking. I was smashing the ball... getting huge distance, and smoking hot line drives. I don't know if it was just that this bat took longer to break in (100-200 hits), but once it came around it was AWESOME! The overall feel and performance was right there with some of my USSSA legal bats. I wouldn't say its as good as a OG Freak, or Jeff Hall USSSA, but its definitely a GREAT ASA bat.. The end load isn't as heavy as I had been anticipating. I think the extra .5oz end load is only felt in the heavier models like the 28.5oz. So if you normally swing a 27oz, don't be afraid to go with the 27.5oz in this bat. This bat comes with Worth's awesome unlimited 1 year warranty against defects in workmanship or material... What's this mean to you? If the bat cracks in normal use (I.E. Not in a batting cage, or under 50 degrees temperature) they will replace it free of charge unlimited times for 1 year from the date of purchase (as long as you have a valid dealer receipt). This is one of the best things about Worth's warranty... the worst thing is their customer service in the warranty department tends to be quite slow to respond to emails, or ship out replacement bats. I still gave them a 9.0 in the CW&CS department due to the unlimited replacements for one year. So if your a true bat masher and have trouble with durability, have no fear... WORTH WILL TAKE CARE OF YOU
