My Own Personal Review of the 2009 Brett Helmer Reveal SRV2 34" 27oz Softball Bat
If you've heard that there is no way for a company to produce a truly hot 98mph bat under the new guidelines and testing rules for ASA, then you are dead wrong. The new Reveal Brett Helmer SRV2 is an absolutely amazing bat. The technology behind this bat is something out of a science fiction movie, with its color changing dies inside the composite barrel, and its incredible 98mph performance right out of the wrapper. For our test bat we unwrapped a brand new 27oz bat and took it straight down to the local hardball field for a round of testing. We took our cheap digital camera to capture some of the swings for all our readers to see. The balls used were some Diamond .44 Cor 375 ASA Balls, DeMarini .44 Cor 375 ASA, and a couple of Dudley .44 Cor 375 Softballs. Oh and one of those safety soft training balls that we all used back in 2nd grade when we were learning how to play baseball. You know the ones that go POOF when you hit them. Someone snuck one into the bucket of balls and I took a FULL CUT at it, and you can hear us both crack up. This ball was an absolute PILLOW! Let’s get back to reviewing this bat... The bat did not disappoint at all, it lived up to all the hype our friends at Easton had been telling us. Right from the first swing it had a sweet crack sound, and the ball jumped off. The field dimensions were a little longer since we were hitting from about 10ft behind the plate, and swinging towards Right Center field at about 350ft. You can see most of my line drives and long balls were right at the fence. That’s 350ft+ on most of my swings with a brand new ASA 98mph bat. I think that this bat will surprise a lot of people with its nice balanced feel, and big sweet spot. The overall performance of this bat was right on par with older bats that people swear are much hotter then 98mph. If your thinking about getting a new 2009 model bat, don’t hesitate to get the new Helmer Reveal SRV2.
